Everything You Need to Know About Pipes

We see pipes being used everywhere for supplying different liquids and gases in domestic, residential, commercial, and industrial places. The water that is supplied in your household involves the use of the pipe, the gas that is supplied on the gas station involves the use of the pipe, the beverages being made in industries involve the use of the pipe, almost everything that is liquid or gas in nature is contained, transported and used through pipes. As liquids and gases can seep very easily through the tiniest of spaces, therefore, pipes are made extremely rigid, impenetrable, temperature-resistant, impact-resistant, weather-resistant, and chemical resistant. Some pipes acquire these qualities through their material and some through their design. This way, the classification of pipes can be done in many different ways based on their materials, structure, fittings, etc.

Classification Of Pipes Based on Their Design:

Pipes can be found in a number of different designs, and all are uniquely different from each other. The basic type of pipe is a pipe with threaded ends; these threaded ends help the pipe to attach with pipe fittings and nipples and form a secure connection. If the pipe has male threads at its ends, it will be used with female threaded nipples and fittings and vice versa. The other design of pipes is press-fit pipes; these pipes are designed as such that they are pressed with the help of specific press-fit tools. It also requires a press-fit fitting to be attached with it. Any press fit pipe supplier can assist you with the press-fit pipe tools and fittings. Then we have push-fit pipes; these pipes are attached with fittings and nipples just by sliding. No extra tool is needed though the fittings and nipples for these pipes will also have to be push-fit.

Classification Of Pipes Based on Their Material:

You can find pipes in a variety of different materials ranging from plastics to metals. The plastic pipes are made using PVC, PEX, ABS, etc., and the metal pipes are made using iron, aluminum, steel, etc. All these materials have their own benefits like plastic pipes do not corrode at all, unlike some metal pipes. Whereas metal pipes can resist any temperature, hot or cold, unlike plastic pipes that will deform at extreme temperatures. Similarly, the impact resistance that plastic pipes have is slightly lesser than that of metal pipes. Metal pipes are resistant to fire, whereas plastic pipes do not have great resistance against fire. However, all these piping materials let it be plastic or metal, are highly durable and compatible with all types of things.

Final Word:

For a secure and safe supply of liquids or gases, whatever your need is to make sure that you attach the right pipe with the right pipe fitting. Choose the material of the pipe wisely; if you have a water geezer and you are going to use a plastic pipe for it, then there is a chance that your pipe will deform in a very short period of time. Choose wisely!
